Leaves

Leaves

Leaves swirling in the wind like birds

Covering up the sky with their dance

Leaves airborne and ebbing in the wind

Covering paths that were meant to be trodden

Leaves blowing inadvertently in people’s feet

Erratically following an invisible path

Leaves gathering upon the gutter

Damming last night’s pounding rain

Leaves rustling sadly in the breeze

Cartwheeling untold and shining distances

Leaves colour-constellating plains

And gardens and parks and avenues

Leaves fading in the autumn of years

Sepia memos of forgotten moments

Leaves burying unrememberable memories

Blessing the idiots and people of tears

Leaves stretching a shade past our existences

Unbeknownst to a rampaging world

Leaves leaving in the night starwards

And though earthbound like us meant to be

Leaves sensing a peace we may have forgotten.
